WD19TB Dock Making Static Noise
Hi
My WD19TB is making static noise. It goes like 'zzz zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz zz z zzzzzzzzzzzz z zz zzzzzzzzz zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz zz zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz zzz zz zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz zzzzzzzzzzzzz zz zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz z z zzzzzzzzzzzzzz...'
It is connected with a 9500 XPS 15. The problem only and always occurs when the laptop is on.
Would you please tell me if there is a problem with my dock?
It is still under warranty tho.

What else is connected to the dock? Does the noise persist it you disconnect other peripherals?
I have 2 docks that I use with my xps9500. They are silent

Yes, it still persists after I disconnect all other peripherals.

Try checking that the AC plug and the AC wall outlet are both properly grounded

Sounds like coil whine to me. Do you get the same thing regardless of what you connect to the dock?

Good luck, mine has the whine too. And so does the replacement Dell sent me. I have to wonder if anyone actually plugged it in and listened for 5 seconds while "refurbishing" it. Sadly, it wouldn't surprise me to hear that they didn't, given the current reputation their QA has.
