Windows XPS 15 9530 screen flickering issue

XPS 15 9530

XPS 15 9530

My laptop functions normally except for after ~20 minutes of being on, the entire screen, not just an application, will begin to flicker, flashing and distorting the contents on the screen. Ive seen other people who have this problem when the computer shows a still image and it stops when the image changes or moves. This is not the case for me. The screen continues flashing until I close the laptop for a minute or two and then it is good when I open it up again.

The first question is whether the same behavior is observed on an external monitor.  The second is whether any fault shows during a screen test (hold D through powerup to initiate).

A new BIOS will be released sometime in February to address this issue. You may contact GHN agent to create a case. Explain the issue and ask for the non-released test BIOS. You will have to agree to the Non-Disclosure Agreement.

A possible workaround while awaiting the new BIOS to be released is to install the latest Intel Iris Xe Graphics and Intel Command Center Application. Then open the Intel Graphics Command Center application--> System--> Power. Disable/turn off the PSR (Panel Self Refresh) for both Battery and Plugged In.
