XPS 13 9310 - camera issue
Hello Dell Support Team,
I’m experiencing a recurring issue with the integrated camera on my Dell XPS 13 9310.
- Device: XPS 13 9310
- OS: Windows 11 25H2
- BIOS: 2.35.0 (issue began before this; details below)
- Error: “No camera found” (NoCamerasAreAttached)
Timeline and symptoms:
- Shortly after the factory warranty expired, the built‑in camera suddenly stopped working and Windows reported “NoCamerasAreAttached.”
- The camera is not disabled in BIOS, and all drivers and Windows updates were current. The camera remained non‑functional for over a year.
- After updating the BIOS to 2.35.0, the camera worked again temporarily and Windows Hello also resumed working.
- Unfortunately, the issue returned soon after, with the same “NoCamerasAreAttached” error. The camera no longer appears in apps.
Troubleshooting already performed:
- Verified camera is enabled in BIOS.
- Updated BIOS to 2.35.0.
- Installed all Windows Updates and Dell/Intel drivers via Dell SupportAssist and Windows Update.
- Toggled Camera privacy settings in Windows; granted app permissions.
- Checked Device Manager for Imaging devices/Cameras; scanned for hardware changes and attempted driver reinstall.
- Power‑cycled the system; performed a full shutdown and CMOS/EC reset via power drain.
- Tested in multiple apps (Camera app, Teams, Zoom, Windows Hello).
- Ran Dell diagnostics (SupportAssist/Pre‑boot). The tool does not detect that the laptop has a camera and therefore does not scan it; the diagnostic summary reports that all hardware is “OK,” which seems inconsistent with the missing camera.
Request: Could you advise on next diagnostic steps and whether this is a known issue for the XPS 13 9310?

Click here for information resolving the webcam.
To receive assistance from Dell chat support, they need to verify the warranty status and ownership. Then you must troubleshoot with them. Click the "Get Help Now" icon on the right to start a live chat session. If already out of warranty, click here for the Dell out of warranty offering.

@DELL-Jesse L my warranty is off and I don't want to pay 50$ only to get support which they will most likely say that I have to send it in and pay even more.
This is clearly something that is BIOS issue and for me it almost sounds like Dell is pushing this updates to sell their waranty products.
This is not a hardware defect.

@tanair did you check the information below?
Checking Privacy Shutter
Many laptops and USB webcams come equipped with a privacy shutter that physically blocks the camera lens.

@DELL-Jesse L Dell XPS 13 9310 does not have a privacy shutter.

Have you tried installing the Dell Camera Firmware Update Utility 1.10.12 found on the XPS 13 9310 Drivers & Downloads page? I am curious if the firmware identifies the webcam.

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried that but it says "no update required".
I have also run the Dell hardware diagnosis but it is successful. However, it does not check the camera.

This is everything I tried:
- in the Windows Privacy Settings the Camera is enabled
- in BIOS the Camera is enabled
- run Dell hardware diagnosis - no errors - however it did not check the camera
- run F12 during boot and health check - no hardware defects - however it did not check the camera
- Checked Dell camera driver - "no update required"
- BIOS is up-to-date
Camera did not work after warrenty was off. Didn't work for about a year. Then after BIOS update to 2.35.0 it started working again up until now, when it stopped working.
