XPS 15 (7590) RAM & Screen Issues

Question

Hi there, Two separate issues I'm looking for guidance on, both may be related. (also apologies in advance for my poor computer terms) 1. RAM Failure I've experienced overheating in the past which I'm curious if it has led to power issues with my laptop. About a week ago, I started experiencing issues powering up my laptop after it had either been shut down completely or went to sleep. I would have to try to power it off & on repeatedly for it to work eventually after many attempts. Few days later, I experienced my first crash (no blue screen, just went black) and turned off. Status light would blink white 4x and orange 2x, signaling I was having a RAM/memory issue according to Dell. I went and replaced both RAM slots with new cards, laptop worked for a half day, then crashed again. After a bunch of research and self-diagnostics, I've found that my right/second RAM slot is not functioning properly. If I have one ram card inserted in the first/left slot, laptop boots up perfectly fine. If I have one ram card inserted in the second/right slot, the laptop doesn't boot up anymore. If I have ram cards inserted in both slots, the laptop doesn't boot up either. My assumption is the right/second slot is no longer functioning, is there a way to fix this aside from fully replacing the motherboard? I read on a thread that removing the CMOS battery for 15 minutes and changing certain BIOS settings could fix the issue, but that didn't work. If it's not fixable, is it likely that my other RAM slot will fail soon due to not having two functioning slots? 2. Screen Lines Driving home from the store where I picked up the new RAM cards (I pulled my laptop out at the store to show someone), it turns out the laptop stayed on for the next hour in my laptop bag and when I got home it was burning hot. When I powered it back on, all of a sudden I have horizontal lines going across my screen. Did the overheating cause the screen to fail in some capacity or is this related to my first issue? Any/all help is greatly appreciated before I purchase a new laptop on Monday.

The RAM slot is probably bad but that does not mean the other slot is bound to fail. As for the screen issue, run diagnostics (tap F12 immediately at boot) and watch for the same lines during the display test. If they are also there, and I would guess they will be, then the screen would need replacing. With a probably MB problem and display problem it may be wiser to replace the laptop.

The MB is around $550 - 800 and the display is around $300. That is a significant cost and money that could be used for a new system.

Same problem here....the left slot is not working properly. And i don't know what to do. Does any one know if xps 15 7590 supports ram 32 in each one slot? Can it be fixed?
