XPS 15 9500, screen flicker, freeze, colored lines
Hi Guys,
I bought a Dell XPS 15 9500. After a few months the screen freezes for a minute and then these colored flickering lines appear, the only solution is to shut down the laptop and that temporarily works, but this happens often.
I update all the drivers, BIOS, and even reinstalled windows but nothing. Did the LCD BIST test and all was okay. Also, I connected the laptop to an external monitor but all was good. So I´m guessing is the Laptop display video card or similar?
Any recommendations? Motherboard replacement, Display replacement?
Cheers!

Hi Guys,
I do have the same or very similar issues with my XPS 15 7590
Randomply ( sometimes after weeks, sometimes every second day) my laptop crushes. Magical gliches appears on the screen and everything is frozen. The only one way is to hard reset it by power it off.
Because I work with VM Ware - having this issue sometimes results with VM Machine being corrupted - ant thats a big issue.
I went through numbers of forums, tests, system raports, driver updates via officail Dell tools, and "brain storm".
Definitelly screen itself is not a problem, VM is not a problem (most of the users who had this issue didnt even used it), some other applications running in the background are not a problem too - I'm pretty sure, since doesn't matter what is running and what not, this issue appears.
I would say it might be either drivers interaction issue or CPU, GPU problem, or may be RAM. I have not a problem to replace some hardware or drivers if only anyone can name the cause of that problem without guessing (straight away or doing some tests). I'm sick and tired doing it by "lets try and see" method - if so, it would be better, faster and may be even cheeper to buy new laptop.
So is there anyone who had similar issues and resolved that? Or anyone in Dell support itself who can finally tell what the hack is happening with these XPSs or give some fairly probable clue (there are numbers of raports about similar issue, but no any answer from Dell I have seen).
Otherwise after years of using Dell's laptops for business and private I would really consider to change the brand.
Thank you in advance

@Czarmosz I had the same issue with my Dell XPS 15 7590—random colorful screen freezes that looked like distorted rainbow patterns. After opening the laptop, I discovered that the steel D-panel (bottom cover) sits directly above the RAM modules and can sometimes make contact with them, especially if the panel is slightly bent or under pressure. This contact can disrupt the RAM, causing instability that leads to graphical glitches and system freezes. To fix it, I applied a layer of non-conductive electrical tape to the inside of the D-panel where it sits over the RAM area. This insulating barrier prevents physical or electrical interference with the RAM, and since doing this, the freezing issue has completely stopped.
