XPS 15 9500

Hi!
I would like to know what kind of stylus I can use with my XPS 15 9500. I have the InfinityEdge Touch Anti-Reflective 500-Nit Display. All I want to do with the stylus is take notes!

Thank you

Any generic capacitive stylus will work, but if you're looking for precision writing or drawing, note that this is a touch screen system - it lacks a pressure sensitive digitizer. If you want to do a lot of precision drawing and writing, you really need a 2-in-1 system (there used to be an XPS 2-in-1 9575, but it was never updated so there isn't one in the current lineup).

A Surface tablet or iPad (with Apple Pencil) would be much better suited for this workflow.

Maybe a proper foldable 2-in-1 (with built-in digitizer) but it's gonna be heavy so you would likely only use it while it is sitting on something like desk or maybe your lap.

Wow... When I bought this customized laptop I specifically asked for a touch screen so I could take notes etc... Paid 400CAD to have that and I cannot even do the work I have to...

Thank you for the answer!!

Even a stylus such as Bamboo ink Plus would not work?

You'll have to ask Wacom about compatibility, but even if it does work, it's not going to provide precision writing or the pressure sensitivity these pens are designed to provide.  For that you need a 2-in-1 system, not a touchscreen clamshell.  Beyond the clumsiness of the setup (you can't fold the screen back against the bottom of the system), there's no digitizer in the display.

Most 2-in-1s live in the 12-14" market -- there haven't been that many 15" and larger 2-in-1 systems produced.  There is one in the Inspiron series (the 15 7000 series 2-in-1), and there are some from Lenovo and others.  The market isn't a big one, and the 15" screen adds quite a bit in cost to the system when a digitizer is factored in.  That's easier to mitigate in a system made largely of cheap plastic than in the XPS, with its higher cost materials.

Yeah, for that you could have gotten a new 8th-Gen iPad and Apple-Pencil. Apple Scribble support has been enhanced in iOS-14.

If you only want one device, but it must be Windows ... look at Surface tablet. Dock it for full-sized monitor and keyboard.
