XPS 15-9570, BIOS 1.3.0, sleep mode gone?

Anyone else not getting the new BIOS update to open after download?

BIOS release 1.8.1:

The display is still flickering.
S3 still does not work.
Audio dpc latency is still unclear. Sound defects are still present.

Latency, flickering, sleep bug.... they are all still with us.

This thread is about the missing S3 sleep mode on the current Dell XPS 9570 laptops. I have the same issue and it is driving me crazy!

A bit off-topic quick heads-up for everyone who like me hoped that upgrading to Windows 10 1809 would solve at least one of these numerous problems. It didn't solve anything for me but also broken the Dell Premier Color app so if you are using or plan on using it, it loses any control over the XPS display (UHD version) on Windows 10 build 1809 so e.g. changing the color gamut modes is no longer possible. Apparently there were some driver architecture changes that possibly affected the Premier Color functionality. Chances are Dell are now trying to chase down some Portrait Displays Inc. contractor on some tropical island somewhere to fix this but given the current state of things and how they are progressing with the numerous showstopper issues described here (aren't), I'm not holding my breath.

Also, any way to un-mark this thread as "solved"? The issue is very much ongoing and someone has clearly clicked that by mistake.

I have a 2nd unit of 9570, I'm now using Hibernate instead of sleep. It's a bit slower, and sometimes it BSoD on resuming, but at least it doesn't burn itself in my bag. 

I don't know if this has been addressed previously but I may have a fix. I have XPS 15 9570 BIOS 1.8.1

get into BIOS , using F2 ofc, and look under POWER MANAGEMENT setting. There you will find Block Sleep - in my situation it was ticked by default ie ENABLED. The information panel on the left reads:

This option lets you to block entering sleep in OS environment. When enabled system won't go to sleep. Intel Rapid Start will be disabled automatically and OS Power option will be blank if it was set to sleep.

On my system un-ticking Block Sleep box , apply and restarting brought back my sleep options in all Windows 10 Pro 1809 (build 17763.379) settings. Hope this helps.

If you close it, put it in your bag, and leave it there for more than an hour or two you'll come back to two things:

1) A VERY warm bag.  Possibly melted plastic.

2) A drained battery.

Modern sleep is garbage.  I'm staying on my ancient 1.2 firmware just so I can do the reghack for S3 sleep.  This way, at least, my laptop goes to sleep when I close the lid and doesn't drain the battery.

I don't need "modern" sleep.  Sleep wasn't broken before.  Close laptop, laptop sleeps, battery lasts DAYS not hours.

If my laptop is closed I don't need it getting emails, etc.  I just need it in a VERY low power state powering juuust enough of itself so it's ready when I open it.  None of this "oh, we just woke up to install updates and get your email and update steam and in the process drained your battery" **bleep** that modern sleep does.

As a test, I re enabled Modern Standby (removed the "csenabled=0" reghack) to see if any recent windows updates changed things for the better.

Laptop still doesn't sleep properly.  Warms up bag instead.  BUT it does now (eventually) hibernate, so that's good I guess.  Still not as good as S3 sleep, tho.

The switch back to modern standby also reintroduced the MASSIVE mouse/kb lag at resume.  Have to wait a good 15-30 secs for the cstates to settle down before the mouse behaves properly.

The one good thing is that the screen doesn't do it's flickering anymore after resume.

So I either get flaky keyboard/mouse + heating bag + drained batter after standby, OR I get flickering monitors.

This laptop is a lemon.
