XPS 15 9570, Intel UHD 630 driver failed to update

Intel UHD 630 P630 driver persistently fails to update on my XPS 9570. The same problem has been reported on the Alienware board. Does anyone have a solution?

Hi al,

I experienced a comparable issue on my brand new XPS15 7590 (2019) machine.

Intel Driver Support Assistant showed an update for the built-in U630  video controller. However, when trying to install the driver, it would report that the driver is not compatible with my system, and that the manufacturer needs to be contacted for a driver.

I resolved it as follows (kudo to vvravalos for the approach that also worked for me):

- Download the ZIP (not the EXE) from here:

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/28991/Intel-Graphics-Windows-10-DCH-Drivers?product=126790

- Extract the files in the ZIP using 7ZIP or similar (WinZIP/WinRAR).

- Follow the instructions provided by vvravalos and browse to the 'Graphics' sub folder in the extracted folder.

- Choose to install the Intel U630 driver (This may take 2-3 minutes because of the sheer size of the driver)

- Restart the machine

- FINAL CHECK: Running Intel Driver and Support Assistant again now shows that everything is up-to-date !

NOTE:

After this FIRST install of the Intel U630 driver, subsequent installs and upgrades seem to work fine.

Most probably (my best guess...), the originally installed U630 driver was somehow marked as being 'DELL Specific' and first needs to be overwritten with the latest 'Intel U630 driver'.

I'm having the exact same issue. I can't Support Assist to do a hardware scan either, it preps the scan, and then it just doesn't run it.

Driver: Intel UHD Graphics 630 P630

Version: 23.20.16.5037

I just received my XPS 15 today and am experiencing the exact same problem.

I also had to reinstall SupportAssist. Not a great start to a brand new laptop

Also having the same problem. I've tried to update the driver manually - both by using a stand-alone executable from Dell's support website and by attempting a driver upgrade through the Device Manager. In both cases, I get an error stating that the update hasn't been registered / authorized by the manufacturer. The same happened when I directly attempted to download an update on Intel's driver website.

Same here. I went to Intel's own website using their driver checks and it says everything is up to date.

I don't know what the issue is with Dell's SupportAssist.

Same issue here. The driver shows a recommended update than FAILS.

Good to know that I am not alone in this. Just got the 2018 9570 and fails to update. I hope they solve the issue soon

I am troubled with the same problem.

Driver:INtel UHD Graphics 630 P630

Version:23.20.16.5037

I attempted to download and install a new driver from DELL's support, but that failed.

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/product/126790/Intel-UHD-Graphics-630

Version:24.20.100.6229

I am in trouble because there is no workaround.

Hi there.
I've just been supported by Dell in solving this problem and I want to share with you all the steps I've seen they have done.

My icons are in Italian, so I'm not sure of the translations. Sorry.

1) Go to Computer, right click somewhere over the white spaces, click Properties.

2) Click on Advanced Computer Settings -> Hardware -> Installation device settings -> set to "No"

3) Go to this site and download the utility; then install it.

4) After that, with the utility above, uninstall the Intel drivers.

5) Let the PC finish the job, then reboot it.

6) When rebooted, go to Dell SupportAssist and install all the present drivers. This time all should go fine.

7) Remember to revert step 2).

I hope this will solve also your problems!
