XPS 9300 hangs, possible temperature sensor error

Hi everyone,

Hi everyone,

I have a really annoying problem, since my laptop hangs almost every minute for a few seconds. In particular, when I switch between apps. The mouse is moving but nothing else happens. After a few seconds i works again. Before installing a new display driver this was even worse since everytime the PC hang, I had to hard reboot. As I said, now it seems to work that something is recovering, could be the display driver but I dont think so.

When I was looking in the windows event viewer, I saw the following failure of a temperature sensor and the timestamps pretty much correlate with my "hangs". I tried to update everything and dell command update does not show any more updates, so it should be good. However, my problem is not fixed. I checked the board and for older version who had the same problem, there was a BIOS update that helped. Since there is none for the 9300, it could be that no one reported the same issue yet, Dell is working on it or there is a hardware mistake.

Does anyone has an idea to fix it?

Temperature sensor detected a failure value
Sensor location: DIMM A,
Probe type: Temp
Location: Memory Module,
Current value: 59,
Upper critical threshold value is: 57,
Upper non critcal threshold value is : 54.
Chassis location: Main System Chassis
Previous state was: Critical (Failed)

Cheers,

Patrick
