XPS blinking or flicker screen update

The XPS 9520 12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-12900HK 2.50 GHz 32 gb ram is Absolutely the worse computer I have ever owned and I have been using computers since the early 90's

After 3 months of use the screen started blinking like it was going to sleep. It start doing it once a day then went to every 5 min over time. I spent over 150 hours trying to resolve this issue with their help desk. Essentially 50% of the time I have had the computer I have not been able to work.

I have had 2 docking stations. 3 motherboards, onsite tech, OS reinstall, shipped to resolution center. Issue not resolved. Since it was over a month old they would not replace. So they shipped me a refurbished laptop. That lasted a week.

New(refurbished) XPS 9520 new problem. Desktop appearance will change every 5 to 10 reboots. Icon's too far apart on desktop. Its like there should be another icon between them. Also the solid background color I choose will go to black. So I have started the process over. First up they want to reinstall the OS.

If you have purchased this computer you should extend your warranty immediately.

I have used multiple platforms in my 25 year career in IT and this is ABSOLUTELY hands down the worse product in terms of reliability that I have ever seen or heard of.

Got a dell XPS-15 only worked for 3 months. External monitors started randomly blinking like they were going to sleep. Extensive test with help desk. I spent 100 hrs try to fix with  help desk. 3 motherboards, 2 docking stations, OS reinstall, sent to resolution center. One month without a usable computer. Dell would not send me a new computer, sent me a refurbished computer.

Refurbished computer worked 1 week. New issue, the desktop appearance will randomly reset itself after reboot. Icons are too far apart. Looks like you can fit another icon inbetween the icons. Sometimes another reboot will fix it. 1 hour on phone with help desk they want me to reinstall the OS AGAIN. This means I need to set up all my dev environments AGAIN.

Has anyone had an issue with desktop appearance coming up incorrectly after reboot?

If you have this computer you should extend the warranty immediately.

The XPS 9520 is Absolutely the worse computer I have ever owned and I have been using computers since the early 90's

New(refurbished) XPS 9520 new problem. Desktop appearance will change every 5 to 10  reboots. Icon's too far apart on desktop  in if  there is a popup task for  settings. Its like there should be another icon between them. Also the solid background color I choose will go to black. So I have started the process over. First up they want to reinstall the OS. I dont have an infinate amount of time to work on this. ALL I WANT IS A WORKING COMPUTER. Its hard to get a job as a web developer without a computer.

If you have purchased this computer you should extend your warranty immediately. I dont understand why dell cannot fix or provide me with a computer that works more than three months. Well the latest attempt only worked a week.

I have used multiple platforms in my 25 year career as a web developer and this is ABSOLUTELY hands down the worse product I have every seen or heard of.

I have spent the last month and a half trying to get a working XPS 9520 with Dells helpdesk without resolution and I have some questions. Mostly because I  am on my second 9520 and after 5 days it is exhibiting issues.

Whats up with  the Helpdesk?

1. Why doesnt the person that opened the case have any ownership  of that case. If I call hd and want that person for continuity, HD has told me they cannot transfer me to the person that opened the call and the person that opened the call cannot call me. I have so many calls to the HD I know the days some of them have off. Thats alot of calls to the HD by the way.

2. Why cant I speak to a manager? After a month and  half and  over  100 hours of trying to resolve an issue with a product that is 3 months old I feel I deserve at least that much consideration. I am on my second XPS 9520 and that one has started having issues after 3 days. All I want is a working computer and it seems that dell has put the onus on me to spend 50% of my time trying to fix the xps 9520. Never mind that I am trying to make a living with the product that I paid 3g for  a product which totally failed after 3 months

3. Can I edit the BIO's. One of your HD personnel admonished me for editing bio's to change the action of lifting the lid of the laptop. I was also told I should NEVER use any power setting in the BIO's except the default. I wanted to use the 50%-90% battery charge settings. What are  the other settings there for if you are never suppose  to use them?

4. Will the XPS 9520 run on windows 11 from windows? I was told by 2 HD personnel I could only use Dell's image of windows 11 I should not use windows 11 from windows.

3. I had an issue with monitors blinking / going to sleep for a few seconds while working on my first XPS. Issue never resolved. A quick google shows a number of results for this issue. No one seemed to have any idea of the issue. common issues, I would think, should be known to hd.

4. Does the XPS 9520 need to be turned off when not in use?  When I told the HD the machine had been up 3 days, sleeping at night, I was told I should never do that, the computer should be turned off when not in use. When I objected saying there was nothing in the tech spec's about it and I never would  have purchased it if dell had disclosed this fact the response was it was something that was not in the literature only the techs knew that.

5. Why doesnt the hd know how to do a clean install of windows? I had hd walk me through how they wanted me to do a clean install of window since it was my second XPS 15 and I already had a month and a half trying to fix the first one, with a dell image. I wanted a clean install without all the bloadware. 3 days later I was having issues and that HD person told me the first HD person did not have me re-install windows correctly and I need to do it all over again.

6. On the first XPS 9520 when booting the dell logo would flash rapidly. I mean rapidly enough that I knew dell would never do this as it could cause an epileptic episode in someone. HD told me it was normal. I objected and told them it was not normal and I would send a video,  Also told them I had multiple reboots without the docking station attached and it was doing the same thing. I was admonished and they knew what they were talking about. 2 days later the laptop would not power up.  Does the HD use the product or is it they just need to work on their listening skills?

7. When the first XPS 9520 would  not power up and a replacement was going to be sent I asked for anything but another XPS 9520 because I knew by then this laptop is not suitable for a business environment, its a toy for kids. I was told they could not provide me with a substitute of equal or lessor value unless it was the same model. I relented and accepted the replacement. 3 days later I am having issues with the replacement. Definition of insanity,. doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.

I paid 3g for a laptop and got 3 months of use out of it. Game over. All I wanted was a working computer that I can reasonably expect to work for 3 years. What I have now is a month and a half of misery, no dependable machine, over 100 hours of work trying to fix a worthless XPS 9520 that was replaced with another XPS 9520. And  my journey of trying to fix the 9520 begins again with a new(reburbished).
