XPS Not Recognizing Adapter

About a year ago, I purchased an XPS 15 7590 and it's been working great until today. However when I plugged it in this morning, I noticed that the light on the adapter was off and the laptop wasn't charging.

At first, the light wouldn't turn on at all, regardless of if it was plugged into the laptop or not. I checked my powerbar and the pins in the adapter, and both seem to have no physical damage. The power port seems fine as well and there's no resistance when I plug the cable in. Thankfully I have an identical jack from a previous laptop and swapped it out. That seems to have done something because when I plugged it into the wall after, the light turned on like it's supposed to.

My problem now is that the light turns off when I plug it into the laptop. Diagnostics showed that there's nothing wrong with the battery but the charging cable couldn't be detected. I'm beginning to suspect that it's due to something short circuiting and if that's the most likely cause of the issue, how would I go about fixing it?

You haven't mentioned trying another adapter, and from the sound of the symptoms, that's the faulty part.

If it's neither the adapter nor the jack, that leaves the system board.

I do not have another adapter to use and would like to avoid buying a new one unless it's absolutely necessary. However that does help a bit and I'll bring it to someone who does have a compatible adapter to see if it works (or cough up the $55 - 110 if push comes to shove).
