Xps13 won't boot first time

Question

I have a Dell xps13 which never boots into windows on the first attempt but halts on the dell logo with no error. You power off and back on again and it always goes in the second time. What could be causing it bar a slow hard disk

Basically you need to shut off "Fast Startup".

It could be a hard drive that is starting to have problems. Was the system working properly until lately? I would run diagnostics just to check the hardware. At the Dell splash screen start tapping F12 and select full diagnostics. Watch for any specific errors. The following links may help as well.
