You should expect low dedupe rates on a single copy of a database, it goes up if you have multiple copies of the same database. Databases typically have higher compression rates. To answer your question directly – you should still create a 3TB LUN if you are moving a 3TB LUN on VNX. You might end up consuming much less physical space on XtremIO because of thin provisioning, dedupe and compression benefits that XtremIO can provide. As mentioned above, running the Mitrend tool should help provide a good idea of what your space efficiency would be.
