Maybe post the discussion publicly so people who come afterwards looking for answers can find a solution too?

Hi all, and thank you so much for reaching us out. In regards the CIV VI config with AlienFX, you can disable that option directly on the game menu.

Under the Interface section "Use compatible RGB lighting hardware". Turning this off should allow you to use any theme you want

Hope you can find this information helpful.

    Kind regards,

Hi @ryan2120  welcome to this free user to user Alienware laptop discussion forum. This is not Dell Support.

Civ 6 causes m15 Keyboard backlight to return to default blue and flicker while running : Alienware (reddit.com)

My Alienware m15 has run into a weird issue with Sid Meier’s Civilization VI. When the game loads the keyboard colour defaults back to the light blue colour. When the game starts, the keyboard starts to flicker on and off. This is the only game that displays this issue. When I press the “windows” key and bring up the Alienware command Center, I am unable to change the colour of the keyboard until I quit Civ 6. Only way I can get rid of this irritating flicker is to select “go dark” to turn the backlighting off completely.

Its a game bug "feature", Civilization VI uses some kind of SW interact with RGB lighting, I have the same on my Area 51m. it flickers blue normally, and red when your at war. its been around for a while, but no way to turn it off in game it seems. It seems to affect other brands as well, especially if they have RGB keyboard.
