Why, Dell.. Why?
Why do you guys shoot yourselves in the foot?
After I bought yet another Dell this time (because of the lock down) from Dell direct, I was pleasantly surprised to get a mail from Delloffers.in saying I was entitled to a new Sennheiser headphone and a wireless mouse, for buying the machine during the offer period. Wow! My impression of Dell went up several notches.
I quickly filled in the form. Easy stuff actually. The invoice copy, check, the service tag I got from the machine , check, and the Government ID I uploaded Check! But whats this confirmation copy? Then I recollected I never got a copy of the PO or the invoice, and I finally had to email the persistent sales guy who got cfo@dell.com (I'm not joking) to send the invoice to me. But this does not meet the delloffer.in SOP format ... even if its from the cfo, it does not say I paid!
Anyway I spoke to various call center executives (Mind well, this Covid outbreak, has Dell short-staffed and pretty curt) but the bottom line ... No confirmation copy in required format.. No freebies. Explaining that I have the machine and this couldn't be with me if I haven't paid, and a mail to them pleading with them to forward it to their own company department for confirmation .... cut no ice. Meanwhile the sales guy mysteriously stopped answering my emails begging for a copy of the confirmation mail!
Trying to escalate the issue I've had experience with earlier... easier to get across to Michael Dell!
My impression of officialdom at Dell has gone up several notches and my impression of Dell has gone down several notches from pre-buying-this-machine-days.
Today is the last day of the offer. Wish I had a physical ticket, instead of a number to tear and throw away, Basically I've wasted a lot of time trying to pursue a dream which I never had when buying the machine.
Goodbye Headphone, Goodbye mouse, and I think Goodbye Dell. Wonder what Michael would say??
