This really isn't a question for the hardware forums, but the answer is pretty easy. Most versions of Windows (not sure which you have since you didn't mention it) have a recycle bin on the desktop. Files that you delete are stored there. To empty it, right click the recycle bin and select empty.

There are two other things you can do to speed up your system. The most important is to defragment your drive regularly. If you need instructions, a simple search will find you plenty. Another recommendation is to use a registry cleaner called CCleaner, which can also delete temporary internet files and unneeded registry entries.
