Studio 1535 was not tested with Windows 8 hence there are no drivers available. The system will run on native drivers of Win 8, so some of the advanced features may or may not work.
As mentioned in the post, this system was tested with Windows Vista. You may try installing the Vista drivers, try to install in compatibility mode which might work.
To install in Compatibility mode, download the appropriate drivers from the link above and double click on the file and extract it on the desktop in a folder. Look for setup file in the extracted folder. Right click ‘.exe’ file and click ‘Properties’. Click “install in compatibility mode’. Click on Application and select ‘Troubleshoot Compatibility’. Next, click on ‘Troubleshoot Program’. Click on Program worked in earlier versions of Windows. Click on ‘Windows 7’.Click on ‘Start the Program’. Do not hit ‘Next’ until the installation completes. Once the installation completes, click on ‘Next’.
Sujatha, thank you for the reply, but I am unable to download the four Video drivers with the instructions you gave because I can't install Dell Download Manager on a computer with the Windows 8 O/S. The Dell web site says the Dell Download Manager is only good for up to Windows 7.
I then tried to do just a single-file download instead, starting first with the video Intel-Driver. It appears to have downloaded it okay, since a 16.7 MB-sized file named R189737.exe appears in my Downloads folder. However, when I double-click on R189737.exe to extract it like you suggested, nothing happens. Can you please provide additional help, my son is not happy that he can't play Minecraft.
Regarding my original problem, the specific error that pops up when we try to open the Minecraft game is "Minecraft was unable to start because it failed to find an accelerated OpenGL mode. This can usually be fixed by updating the video card drivers."
