Here's my setup:
8400
160GB SATA
40Gb IDE drive (IDE slave)
Sony DVD-R/W (IDE master)

I can get my Suse 9.2 DVD ISO to boot into Yast, but it craps out during installation ("Canot find installation software on media. Media Error?"). Basically, I'm trying to install Suse on my IDE drive, so that I can dual boot WinXP on the SATA and Suse on the IDE throught the F12 BIOS boot menu.

Do I need to detect the SATA drive by changing the BIOS option if I just want to install it the IDE drive? How can I get the Yast installer to point to the DVD correctly? I can't seem to properly mount the DVD drive, any suggestions?

I'm a newbie to Linux, having just tinkered with the Knoppix live CD, so pardon if my answer is simple...
