I can't tell you how excited I was for the new XPS 13 Developer Edition with Haswell.

My previous Dell laptop was an "N-series" M1330, the first laptop they offered without Windows. 

I wanted Debian on my laptop like every other computer I use.  I've been a Debian developer (Ubuntu's upstream) for over 15 years, and have installed Linux on various laptops and dealt with more hardware issues than I can count.  New kernel?  Firmware?  Any other BS necessary?  I'm on it.

But this machine?  Wow.  Party like it is 1999.  I almost gave up.  _Finally_ managed to bootstrap things, but I had better hopes for a machine that ships with Linux support.

Would hope that at least basic stuff like network could been pushed upsteram / mainlined better.  I can get work done without sound, 3D, lots of other things, but network is pretty important to get up and running and help with the rest.

I also read that lots of folks are having trouble with Wifi after upgrading to newer versions of Ubuntu - getting this properly sent upstream would help a lot here too.
