I have left my laptop (Latitude D500) off for a couple of months and the battery had completely discharged.

 

I have tried recharging it but to no avail.

 

I have just discovered that discarging the battery completely can damage it. 

 

Is there any way I can refresh/repair the battery? ( I have tried the refresh button in windows)
