Code 31

Hello,
I need a major help. My computer didn't connector to internet. After load the driver it show me this message (This device is not working properly because window cannot load the driver require for this driver ( code 31 ). I'd US robotics wireless in first and it worked before. Hooked cable direct to Dell board still not work. Installed Netgear  ga311 power computer up light comes on. After load software had the same message and the Netgear light all. turn off.
I'd try this:
Run
Regedit
expand; HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
expand; SYSTEM
expand; CurrentControlSet
expand; Enum
highlight; PCI
right click; PCI
select; Permissions
Change the permissions and save
I was then able to re-install the Network Card drivers
Any help really appreciate
THX
Rico

I have the same problem with my brother's Dimension 2400 with Windows XP Home Edition.  I uninstalled the drivers, removed the folder, downloaded the new drivers for the Broadcom 4401 Integrated, restarted the computer and installed the new drivers.  Still get code 31.  My brother just got a cable modem, and can't use it because he can't get this to work.  I installed a working 3Com card, and got the same problem after installing the drivers for it... Code 31 in Device Manager.

I'd love to get some help on this also.

Same problem w/ Dell Dimension 8200.  Have tried everything including a new NIC.  Anyone know of a fix?

There's a thread I started called "NIC = Unknown Device" with a lot of suggestions there.  Most have had luck with a System Restore.  That wasn't an option for me and I had to do a complete reformat and reinstall of Windows XP - which, after several hours on the phone with Dell, is what they suggested as well.
