Conexant modem driver?

Anyone know which is the latest/best drive for the Conexant D850 56K DFVc modem?
According to Dell's download page, driver v7.06.00 (5-27-04) is available. The driver currently on my 8400 is v7.6.0.50 (1-7-04). The dates suggest my driver is older, but the version numbers don't make sense. Did they change the numbering system or am I missing something here?

Thanks!
Ron

    Hi RoHe,

The date on the new driver might be an error. I would send Dell an email and ask. I would not change drivers if your modem is working fine.

Thanks. Every time I emailed Dell with this question, I got one of their dumb automated responses telling me to look for updated modem drivers on their download page. I finally got a live(?) person to respond today:

    "Dear Mr. Ron,

You are correct, the version shipped for the modem is the latest version and this version is not updated on the dell support site.

This will be posted soon on the support site, due to some maintenance work the upgratation process is delayed."

OK...I have the latest driver and the update site is not up-to-date. But how does Dell explain that the driver listed on their site has a later date than the one I'm using, which is supposed to be the latest...?

NEVER MIND! These soft modems are lousy no matter what drivers they use.
