Adding member to RAID5 array with PERC 3/Di
I can't find any information ANYWHERE that indicates whether using the Reconfigure feature to add a 4th drive will destroy the data on the existing virtual disk.
Current configuration:
Dell PE 2500
PERC 3/Di
3-drive RAID5 array
Basic disk, not dynamic
Single partition (C:)
Goal:
Add a 4th drive to the array for additional capacity without losing any data on the existing virtual disk.
I am aware that there is no Add Member feature with the PERC 3/Di...you must use the Reconfigure option.
Once the drive has been added, and the virtual disk capacity increases 50%, how can I resize the partition (I have only one partition) so that I have all added space available for storage on that partition?
Anyone have any words of wisdom? Thanks.
