Windows Defender...What am I doing wrong?
This beta 2 product seems to be user unfriendly, unless I am doing wrong. The MS beta 1 worked fine and was easy to use. Beta 2 appears to have downloaded but has to be installed everytime you run it. There is an icon on the desktop that when pressed brings up the Windows Defender Maintainence Wizard. The only available options are to update Defender or remove it. Once the installation is complete you are presented with a screen which says: "check for updated defintions and run a quick scan now"...and there is a checkbox in front of this sentence. Press finish and it wall start a quick scan and look for updated definitions. Uncheck the box, hit finish, and nothing happens.
Basically I am able to do a scan...full scan looked at about 730,000 items (?) and took 40 minutes. So far I cannot tell if any updates have been downloaded, but the first time I tried to find updates today I got an error message that something like
oxf024402c or something like that could not load. I hope that a finished version of this product might be easier to use, unless, as I said before, I am doing something wrong. The MS beta 1 product is no longer available, and feel like removing this unless it really is good at catching things. Anyone else's experiences would be interesting to hear about.
Sorry about the triple post...I hit something on the bottom row of keys and got an error message about attempting to do a double post :smileyindifferent:
