I upgraded my new Dell XPS 710 Microsoft Media Center XP to Vista Home Premium and have run into the perverbial .NET framework SP1 upgrade problem. I have tried many things as mentioned by a lot of forum suggestions and it boils down to the following:

"Download and run the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility, and remove the .NET framework 1.1 from the machine."

I have downloaded the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility and run it which seems to be the only thing that works. But I can never remove .NET framework - the hard drive runs a very long time but I still see .NET 1.1 in my programs. I have even left it run for 1/2 hour so as not to rush to judgement here only to come back, hard drive has ceased churning away but .NET 1.1 is still shown in my programs. This seems to be the hanging point for me.

Any other suggestions I can try?
