I am planning to purchase a Dell PC (probably a Dimension 4700 or 8400) tonight or tomorrow and am trying to figure out whether it's worthwhile to spend an extra $79 for Windows Professional.  I have read many of the threads on this board but haven't found one that talks about "stability".  To be honest, I'm not really sure what that means.  I have heard many people say that Professional is more "stable" than Home.  Does that mean it crashes less often?  What about less disastrously?  While I don't think I need any of the additional feaures Professional offers, I would be willing to pay a little more money for superior reliabilty (my brother says that if I want reliablity I should get a Macintosh).  Thanks in advance for all opinions and facts.
