Removing Command Center Speeds Up System

Well thats my question, does removing (or turning off) the Command Center help improve system performance? The reason I ask is that for some reason my new system just does not seem to be as fast as it should be or as other compatible systems are. My new system is very clean and light on the programs, actually I have only installed 3 applications on this system, other than the standard windows and dell updates. Two games and a 3DMark, I know the default feelings and warnings about 3DMark but I was only using it to get a baseline benchmark to validate my feelings about this system. So no email clients or music applicaionts or other programs to slow it down.

And if so, can you tell me how to turn off the Command Center and what impacts it would have to the system, cooling or other areas?

I think CC also controls the fans and cooling. So removing it may have some conseqences.

I have the same set up as you, after boot up I don't notice any slowdown or heavy CPU/ RAM or GPU  activity. I have STEAM , SKYPE , WMP running while surfing the web and don't have any problems. I don't think removing CC will provide any noticeable advantage. What you and I have is overkill for 99% of the games out there anyway.

Actually I removed CC for that exact reason. I dont really like stuff running in the background I dont need. Some people need it if they are constantly changing the light colors or fan speeds. I reformatted my Alienware the first day picked the color I wanted my light to be before and never reinstalled the CC. My PC boots to desktop literally in like 30-40 seconds and it is usable right away. Im not sure if it was the clean format that made it faster or removing the CC. I do know that out of all the programs preinstalled the CC seems to have the highest cpu/mem usage(there was not a lot of bloatware). Not to mention when using it it was just slow and and cheap looking interface so I did not want it neways. So all in all you can remove it no problem you will get a performance increase that could be very good or totally unnoticeable.

I haven't overclocked anything on this rig. The 920 seems to keep up pretty well. Prob do a level 1 in bios if i need it in the future. The guy who started the thread has the same con-fig as me. I have a ton of apps running in the background like sidebar etc- never noticed a slowdown. Your right about the quicker boot times since the last few Bios updates.

When I got my AW at first I had 2 min.bootups. Most of that is gone with the new BIOS .I also have steam,a flight stick TRIXXX at bootup. You are right this 975 is overkill.

Whats your highest OC?

Maybe boot time (because it won't have to load CC's .Net runtime on startup) but other than that, an i7 processor has more than enough power and available threads to run this background app un-noticeably.

If you remove it, I think the MIO Board will eventaully return to it's "shipping default" settings. This means the fans will return to the plain "Auto" setting and the lights to their default colors. If you have an ALX, the optical bay door might not work any more. Not sure about the louver fins.
