EC Key release failure, randomly repeating keys - Linux
Our school made us buy Dell Pro Max Ryzen AI Pro 7 RTX1000 laptops. So far, the experience actually went much better than I expected, however we are experiencing one major headache that's making the laptops nearly unusable. The internal keyboard like sticks randomly in Linux, evtest shows that the key down signal hits but then the key up signal is not received for a significant amount of time, up to a second.
We attempted i8042.reset=1, and the issue persisted. We also tried i8042.kbdreset=1 and it did not fix the issue.
The problem is intermittent, effecting users very roughly once every 3 days of normal schoolwork, but currently I am testing out acpi_osi=! acpi_osi="Windows 2020" and it seems to be preventing the issue so far. Not a real long term solution though. I tried to contact Dell support but yeah that was obviously not helpful.

I mean overall I was really worried about Dell but the experience has actually been way better than I expected, all but this one issue. This one issue is really horrible though so far it does have me still strongly preferring my 7 year old thinkpad x1 extreme on a day to day basis, it really sucks to be in the middle of something and have the EC freak out randomly and start spamming repeat keys everywhere. It seems issues like this have happened to a lot of Dell models in the past, but I haven't seen anyone post as reliable fix or even hack workaround. Disabling key repeat entirely is the best solution I've found but does make working on the computer significantly more annoying.
