X51-R1 Power Sensor failure
Hi all,
my x51 has just recently started reporting a power sensor failure in the bios. I ran the diagnostics tools and it states the thermistor was exceeding the thermal limit at 127c. During this time my fans were very, very loud and speed fan as well as hardware monitor in windows reported some alarming high temps On fan 2 and 3 (fan 1 always seems to be ok around the 600-700 rpm mark. The gpu also seems unaffected.
This problem isn't consistent however. For example late at night if the pc has been on most of the day I'm likely to see this error. The following day where the pc is left off for hours at night time, then switched on mid morning, I often get no error report and my fans seem to be normal. This can last for a good 3 hours or more before I notice any increase in fan speed.
diagnostics reported the following error code: 2000-0134, valid: 104880.
alien autopsy within windows passes every time and does not report anything strange, even when the fans are going at 5600rpm and above during the check.
is it possible my pc is fine, but the sensor is fault and mis reporting temps? Or is the power fan possibley faulty?
my specs for those it might help: x51 r1 model, i7 - 3770 3.4ghz, GTX 660, 16gb Ram, windows 8 64bit OS
i have made no modifications to the system and everything that I know of is stock alienware parts. The system however is no longer in warranty. So if I do need to replace a part I'm gonna need part numbers and places where I can get them if its possible.
thanks in advance for any one who takes a look at this.
