Hi.

We have a Dell Storage MD3600i. One of the 2 RAID Controllers sudenly shutdown a couple of days ago.

Recovery Guru reported:

- Removed Battery Module.

- RAID Controller Module Removed.

And I have some questions:

1.- It's possible that the storage performance gets degraded due to this? Are not the controllers redundant?

2.- It's possible that this problem due to just a battery problem?

3.- In case I get a new RAID Controller? Do I have to pay special attention to Controller Firmware present

in both controllers?(The new one and the one that's alredy working)

4.- On page 266 of Dell PowerVault MD3600i and MD3620i Storage Arrays - Owner's Manual It's says:

If the array status LED is solid or blinking amber:
a In the AMW, select the Summary tab, and click Storage Array needs attention. Follow the listed procedures in the recovery guru(s) and wait for up to 5 minutes to check if the LED has turned blue. See "Recovery Guru" on page 246.
b If following the recovery guru procedures does not solve the problem,
complete the following procedure to further troubleshoot the array.
c Turn off the host server as appropriate.

And my question is: What I supposed to understand on point C? We have a lot of servers running VMs on this datastorage. The Host Servers running this VMs runs others VMs based on their local disks. So I need to shutdown the host server completely or just stoping the VMs is enough?
