Dell SupportAssist Crashes, cannot uninstall it.
Hi,
When I got my XPS-13 (9370), it came with SupportAssist preinstalled, and everything seemed to work fine. However, it recently started not operating properly: It would get through the driver and performance scans, but would never make any progress on any of the other utilities no matter how long I left it.
Today when I tried to use it, It would launch but instantly freeze. I have looked on the community for a solution and people seemed to suggest uninstalling it and reinstalling it. I cannot do this, since when I try and uninstall it I get the following message: "Error 1721. Action: WickInstaller.1.5CE21306_A484_4807_9F74_294461153A569, location: C:\Program Files\Dell\SupportAssistAgent\PCDr\SupportAssist_6.0.6992.1175_x64.exe, command: --INTERNAL_UninstallFromMsm".
I'm not sure whether this is to do with the fact that my HDD seems to have a partition for Dell called "DELLSUPPORT". I have also noticed that one of the SupportAssist options has disappeared from the "One-time boot menu". There used to be two support assist entries whereas now there is only one.
I am running Windows 10 Home x64. Whenever I try and just run the installer, it just says that the version I have is already the newest version.
Please let me know if you need any other information.
Kind regards,
Nathaniel
