Norton systemworks/anti virus 2006 - Install Help
Is anyone having trouble installing Norton Systemworks/Antivirus 2006????
I've had Norton for years and I'm having a major headache trying to install the 2006 version. First it removed all of my Norton Systemworks 2005 files - did the pre-scan as requested everything was OK. Started the install, it took forever and finally a message popped up saying that it could not complete the install because of activity from my DSL. I disconnected the DSL - tried to install again. It was going on and on and on over 45 minutes with none of those indicator lines going across the bar. I aborted the install.
I go back to install again couple of days later. Disconnected the DSL - tired to install - only button to click is to UNINSTALL all components of the program. Ok, so I click uninstall. It goes on and on and on - no indication that anything is happening on the bar!!! I again abort. I decide to remove the program using MS XP program remove from the control panel. I can't uninstall it because "install was interrupted - please try to install again".
So now I can't install and I can't uninstall. I searched Symantec site and found nothing. The user guide that came with this program is absolutely USELESS!! Symantec wants $30 to speak to a person but email is free - so I emailed them and I'm waiting for a response.
I paid close to $80 for the Systemwork and Personal firewall and they want $30 to talk to someone. There has to be a better way.
