Attention EMC/VMware partners and customers!

This thread is to announce the new capability (in beta) for performing VMware Capacity and Configuration assessments through the miTrend assessment tool.  The current iteration is focused highly on what currently exists in VMware, how it is configured, and how the capacity is being used.  The tool can be useful in all sorts of scenarios but mostly focused on sizing and implementation.  It is purely complimentary to our current miTrend assessment focused on performance of datastores.

There is a simple process to run the tool.  This involves downloading and executing the VMware assessment tool from miTrend, running it, and providing an EMC secure HTTP site to send the tool's results.  These results are then used as part of the miTrend assessment web services to create a assessment.  Contact your partner or EMC rep to get your hands on the tool and documentation!

The assessment will currently create a detailed Excel file that can be sorted and filtered in many ways and has numerous tabs of data to be manipulated.  There's not much else to say!  Take a look at the following example screenshots!

This detailed information can then be used as source information to create Powerpoints with slides similar to the following to provide good overviews of environments.  The screenshots below represent just a small percentage of what is available in the Excel sheet.

We are focused specifically on vCenter Instances, Clusters, Datastores, VMs and dependent details between these objects.
