Solid green display light but no display?

I was given a Dell Dimension 2100 . For some strange reason the ME restallation CD was reinstalled over the existing ME?? Now there is no display at all. I have a solid green light to the monitor and no beep codes. I have powered off the monitor with no luck. I have no access to the bios. I can hear the system boot but no display. Any of you brainiacs have a solution besides blowing it up??

Hi

Try tapping the F8 key on boot up, if drivers are the problem, they wont be loaded, just select the boot in safe mode option.  Do you get the windows splash screen when booting up ?  Also check the brightness adjustment on the monitor, I have seen them adusted all the way dark.  If all else fails, reformat and re-install ME.   As long as its not a hardware problem, that should work.

Thanks for the reply Vince. I have done the F8 but still a black screen. I have tried the monitor on another computer and it runs great. I can't format as I can't see what is going on. Also the  4 status lights on the back of the dell are green. So to wrap things up, I have four green lights on the back of the  Dell, no beep codes, and solid green light on the monitor (and monitor has been tested OK) but black screen (zero display). I don't see the spash and can't see the BIOS. But I hear it booting ?????? I even put in a start up disk and can hear it reading  but no display???

Great news for me or anyone following this post. I found the problem!!! Bad memory stick!! What I did since there are two sticks on this machine. I removed one and it worked . Then I tried the stick I removed and placed it in the the slot that I know works and voila, doesn't work!!!

Thanks
