I have had my Dell for some time now, and up until a couple days ago the unit has been an absolute blast to have, super fast!!

 

A couple days ago, my roommate was using the system when it crashed to Blue Screen, and gave an error code. Here is some info on the unit:

 

Dell Precision Workstation 370

BIOS Version - A02 (08/23/04)

Intel Pentium 4 3.0ghz

1.0ghz DDR2 SDRAM (2x 512mb)

2x Sata 40gb Hard Drives

CD-R - HL-DT-ST GCE-8483B

DVD+R - _NECDVD+RW ND-1300AD

Nvidia Quadro FX 128mb

 

When the initial problem occured the computer could be restarted and it would boot to windows, after some time I wouldn't even get the XP Splash Screen.  I checked out the event log in the BIOS and it had about 8 errors in the last week or so.  The error was the exact same on all occurences.  The error reads:

 

TYPE - MULTI-BIT ECC ERROR SMBIOS HANDLE = 1100 CHANNEL A DIMM 0

 

When the computer boots past the very first screen, I get the option to start in Safe Mode, or normal mode, due to a bad shut down previously.  No matter which option I choose I get a BLUE SCREEN, and it has the error code:

 

STOP: 0x0000007B (0xF7C7C63C,0xC0000034,0x00000000,0x00000000)

 

I've never encountered such a problem, and despite searching the web for info related to any of these problems I have come up empty handed.  I am currently using my back-up computer to get some info.  My roommate assures me that nothing was downloaded and the two active virus scanners I have did not show anything.  This machine is mainly used to search the web, and to play Quake 2.  I do have some higher end Image programs and 3D modeling programs on it, but I haven't used them in some time.
