Hi. I have a Dell Optiplex 170l desktop and I want to improve RAM memory. My Optiplex has 512 RAM in two slots. The maximium I could do would be 2000 KB of RAM (1000KB stack in each slot).

 

My question is: Do I have to upgrade any other features of my computer in order to make the jump from 512 RAM to 2000 RAM compatable? In other words, is upgrading to maximum RAM memory (2000 GB in my case) ever harmfull or a burden to my computer's preformance? Thanks in advance
