Recovery partition program not loading
Hi All,
I have a Dell XPS (Service Tag: ) and it's screen suddenly goes black or white, and nothing works after that. Not Ctl+Alt+Delete also. So I have to keep pressing the power button of the lap to power off it. This happens so frequently now. Hardly I can do any work there. It has been nearly 2.5 years since I bought it.
Firstly I thought it can be a virus problem so I scanned the whole lap, but could not find any virus or a malicious thing. Now I'm expecting to restore it to factory settings.
I have read lots of forum posts and started to restore it from my recovery partition of my lap. I followed below steps,
1. Pressed F8 key when Dell logo appeared.
2. Advanced Boot windows appeared, Then I selected the "Repair My Computer"
3. Progress bar appeared in white color. and Windows started to load. (yeah not the language selection windows or any other relating to Recovery partition reload)
I did this couple of times but I kept loading the Windows after I selected the "Repair my computer". Windows showing the Recovery partition in my device manager dialog.Recovery partition is having around 15GB. I don't know what to do now. Can someone please help me on this.

Hi DELL-Sujatha K,
I have ran a full diagnostic test (Extended Test) and it took around 6 hours. But it did not complain me about any fault. All the tests were successful. I did not order the Windows installation DVD when I ordered my lap. If you think my recovery partition is corrupted what can I do now. Can you guys send me a Windows 7 64bit Home Edition DVD.
And what about you think of the faults I'm getting, my screen suddenly becomes white or black and freezes, and become unresponsive. Can't do a thing after that. So I have to keep pressing the power button to go it OFF. This happens more frequently than before now. Actually its so painful to see my lap in this way, It costed me around 1400USD.
Hi DELL-Sujatha K,
It did not went black or white out of ordinary, but when the test was taking place it notified me in advance that there are some tests which makes the screen black or white. As a result it went black and came back. About that external monitor, unfortunately I don't have any other monitor with me, except another Lenovo lap. So what can I do now?

Hi kushanxp,
Let me know if the screen went black any time when the test was running for 6 hours. Also connect an external monitor and check if the system behavior is the same.
Reply with the status.

Hi kushanxp,
Thank you for the update. Without an external monitor, it is difficult to isolate whether it is motherboard or screen issue. Please send me a private message with the system service tag to check the system details. Please click on my name and click Start Conversation to send me a private message.

Hi kushanxp,
I suspect the recovery partition is corrupted; you may have to clean install the Operating system.
Before that I recommend you to run diagnostics on the hardware components of the system. To run diagnostics restart the system and at the Dell logo tap the F12 key every two seconds. This will start the One-time boot menu. Using arrow keys select ‘Diagnostics’ and hit enter. This will run diagnostics on the hardware components of the system which may take around 5 minutes. Please reply to this post in case of any error message.
