Video problems

Question

I have an Inspiron XPS and Im having a problem with installing certain programs. It seems that certain programs dont work well with the widescreen monitor on the laptop and recieve errors when trying to run them. Does anyone else have these issues or know what I can do to remedy these problems.

Specific programs that give me troubles are Call of Duty and Roller Coaster Tycoon 2. COD gave me an error message but I dont have that game installed right now so I can't run it to give you the error (I do remember it saying something about resolution), but when I started the game in Safe Mode it seemed to do just fine. RCT2 installs just fine but trying to run it brings some issues. As it loads up it repeatedly flashes between the game and this black screen with an error message on it and then eventually minimizes. I never get the chance to read the error message. Im not positive its a video problem but it seems like it.
