P2419HC, Surface Laptop 3, via USB Type-C

Hi,

I have a P2419HC monitor which I'm trying to connect a Microsoft Surface Laptop 3 to via USB Type-C. The monitor works flawlessly with other PCs via USB Type-C, including Dell, HP and Lenovo but for some reason the monitor is not seeing any signal from the Surface when using USB Type-C or HDMI (via an adapter).

I suspect it's an issue with the laptop drivers but Microsoft are telling me it's the monitor and even suggesting that I invest in one of their Microsoft branded USB Type-C to HDMI cables. This kind of defeats the purpose of a USB Type-C monitor and I doubt would actually help. Can anyone advise whether there are known compatibility issues between Surface Laptops and Dell monitors, or if there is anything I might try to get them talking to each other?

Thanks
