T1700 not booting

Hi all,

I have a T1700 with an Intel Core i7 that won't boot. There is no video output from the dedicated GPU (Nvidia) nor from the integrated GPU. I don't know how to debug this. Any help is appreciated!

What is happening:

  • When I plug in the power cord, the led on the power button turns on but no video appears
  • the fans from cpu and case turn on
  • I can't get into bios (or at least I don't see it as there is no video)

What I tried:

  • remove everything not necessary (but the video, usb keyboard and the PSU cable)
  • remove the dedicated GPU and try integrated
  • reset the CMOS by removing it and holding the power button down for 30s
  • the vga cable and monitor is working (from a different computer)

I can't find any debug LEDs or anything that gives any hint about whats the problem

Do you see the Dell logo at all? Have you tried to run diagnostics (tap F12 immediately at boot)? Do you see any blinking LEDs or power button light? What colour is the power button light (amber, white)? This list of diagnostic codes may help.

I am not a Dell employee...I am forum volunteer

Thanks for the reply! I don't see any logo. The display doesn't even turn on or indicate that something happened. All that happens is that the power button turns white when pushed.

    Hi

Did you manage to fix it?

I'm experiencing the same issue, however replacing the CMOS battery didn't help.

It's not a GPU, PSU or cable issue as they work on other machines and other GPUs, PSUs or cables don't work on that T1700.
