Planning our ESRS deployment for two VMAX-2s in a single site in two campus locations (data centres).

Want to utilise existing hardware if possible. Plan to place both policy/Gateways in Production network.

Is it sensible to co-locate both fucntions, assuming that well be deploy two Gateways in two locations, and similarly retain

a redudant policy server.

Likely host would be a BL465 G5 - plenty of resources but limited to 40 Gb free space for local disk. Only two managed appliances though - at present

two VMAX-2 (say 350TB max. in both). The blade is used for VCB backups as part of a VMware farm.

Is it sensible to have any associated storage for either Gateway or Policy Servers located on the VMAXs (with SRDF available) or

must both be on local disks.

Appreciate this is slightly non-standard (it's not described as such in the ESRS IP Planning Guide) but would welcome opinions of others.
