This virus has taken over my laptop - "awebsecurity.com"

Greetings

Last night a virus literally took over my laptop.  It's "awebsecurity.com" and it's causing major DRAMA for me.  At first I could go on-line and work around it - however, after visiting the Yahoo forum with suggested fixes, I downloaded a software that was supposed to be freeware.  The software identified over 3 files in the registry and 18 other occurrences of this nasty bugger.  Unfortunately, it also required you to purchase the software to clean the files it identified.  I tried to purchase, and now I can't get on-line at all!

Can anyone help me out or do I need to take it into see the Geek Squad:robotsurprised:?

As you know, the inspiron comes with McAfee (and I just extended my subscription 3 days ago) so I didn't think I would need additional software to clean this up - but McAfee's tech support told me he couldn't help.  Then he nicely referred me to the 800 number for McAfee tech support that charges $2.50 every 5 minutes to assist you.  What the heck is that all about - why do we purchase the software?
