I recently bought a second hand Dell Precision M4600 laptop with Windows 7 Pro SP1 64 bit. The seller provided me with a Dell Reinstallation DVD for Win 7 Pro SP1 64 bit, but he was a bit vague as to whether it was the disk that originally came with the laptop ("i can give you a copy of Win 7 installation disk"). It is an original Dell DVD

I wondered whether I might have activation problems if I had to reinstall Windows (e.g. if I have a hard disk crash in the future) and it wasn't the disk that originally came with the PC. When I asked him if it was the DVD that originally came with the PC, he didn't answer the question, but he seemed to be saying that if I used that disk in ANY Dell laptop or desktop I wouldn't have activation problems, but that I would if I tried to use it in a non Dell PC.

Is that true?
