Running Win 95/98 applications in XP
My son (9 years old) has a CD Rom game called Construction Zone which we had on our old Win 95 P1 PC. It worked fine. Having just got a new P4 Win XP PC, the CD loads on ok, but when we try to run the game it says that the .exe file is not a valid Win32 application (whatever that means!). We have found similar problems with trying to run older software on XP, but the manufacturers have usually provided a patch to fix the particular problem in each case.
Unfortunately, the original manufacturers of Construction Zone (Mattel Media) were bought out and the new licence-holders of the software are not providjng any support for old products, so I can't get hold of a specific patch to fix the problem. I've tried running the progarm in a Win95 environment in XP, but this had no effect.
I have a very disappointed son. I'm pretty IT literate for a home user, but don't want to start buggering around with XP itself. Any ideas?
