Can anyone tell me how to find WinXP product key that is installed on my computer without using WGA tool supplied by Microsoft? My situation is Microsoft is telling me the product key sticker # on the chassis of my computer does not match the one installed on my computer. This is the way it came from Dell. I would like to double check against the WGA tool. The product key installed on my computer will not pass the validation tool for Wimdow's updates. Any help out there?
Between the fact that the aforementioned free utility frequently returns an incorrect key code, and the fact that one has to wait through about 12 pages of prompts, ads and assorted hoopla to obtain the free utility that often returns an incorrect key code, I think I'll stick with Belarc, which, by the way, offers a lot more details about the subject system(s).
Some good information. I will give check them out. But this still leaves me wondering. If these numbers don't match will I ever be able to do a WINXP update. Cause the validation (WGA) tool though Microsoft is not validation. Microsoft tech said it must be because of the 2 different keys.

My case sticker doesn't match the PID for the CD they sent me either. This free utility will show you the "other" PID:

Just run it and note the results under "Software Licenses." You'll see the same PID for Windows and Internet Explorer.
