I'd like to apologize for my lack of knowledge on the subject in advance, or if there are already very similar questions asked on the very same topic google did not provide me with a solution.

I might be a terrible researcher, and a newbie in the PC world, Alienware Aurora R5 was/is my first real gaming or decent computer, i recently purchased a new CPU fan heatsink, however the screws did not fit the screw holes from the motherboard from the existing fan, i managed to disassemble the pc to look back at the motherboard to find this (photo from an existing website) http://www.myfixguide.com/manual/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/Alienware-Aurora-R5-Disassembly-44.jpg  being the newbie that i am the new fan came with a similar bracket assuming to replace that one (photo) (the fan in question is: Amazon.com: Cryorig C7 CR-C7A Top Flow CPU Heatsink 47mm SFF Mini ITX: Computers & Accessories )  i was too scared to force it out so i re-assembled the PC (typing this question through it)   my questions are:

TLDR

Is that bracket (http://www.myfixguide.com/manual/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/Alienware-Aurora-R5-Disassembly-44.jpg ) able to be removed and replaced with the new one that came with the fan? if so are there any links to guides that might help? 

is the fan just not compatible? the fan perfectly aligns the screws are just too thick for the existing back bracket? (dont know the name thus making it difficult to research)
