I am working on a friends dell dimension L700cx. It has an upgraded Windows XP from ME. She went on vacation and the pc was fine. She left it off but plugged into a surge protector. When she got back and tried to turn it on
1 - power supply fans engages
2 - CD light will flash and tray will open with button.
3 - The power button light doesn't light
4 - The HDD lights doesn't light.

I opened the case and the light by the ATX plug does come on as well as the CPU fan turns. I tried another Power supply which is a p4 425w but it won't even light the ATX board and won't come on. Is the Dell Power supply proprietary? Could this be a motherboard issue? I am stuck on this. Thanks, Kevin
