I'm planning this LAN:

Core:  2 x Dell S5248F-ON (stacked/VLT)

Leaf:  Del N2224X-ON, Dell S4810, Netgear XS512EM 

No routing.

The primary purpose is to connect separate groups of users (connected to the leaf switches) to several file servers (on the core switch).

The different groups have no reason to see each others' computers, and no business seeing the other groups' computers. So while this isn't a hotel or an ISP, it seems like PVLANs are the way to go:  Set the file servers on promiscuous ports, and the clients on community isolated ports.

1. Any reason not to go with this architecture, or issues? 

2. Will those oldie S4810s (OS9) be compatible with the modern ON PVLANs?

3. Is it still the case with ON OS10 that no ports (switch/trunk) can belong to a VLAN and a PVLAN; only one of the types? 

4. As for those Netgears… trying to utilize them instead of eBay'ing them. :-) Is the Dell ON OS PVLAN compatible with IEEE 802.1Q ? Or what are my limitations there?
