I bought a new hard drive a week ago and installed a whole bunch of things on it. I didn't run a defrag for the whole week, so I finally did. I have a separate defrag program called PerfectDisk 8, where you can see what is going on during the defrag. This is the first time I have used this software. I went a little crazy and defraged the drive 3 times. On the third time I noticed a big chunk of the files listed as fragmented disappeared during the defrag. I restarted my computer as well as ran the built-in Vista disk Error-Checking program. I logged on and looked at my disk usage and I had gained a random 15-16gb. I went to open Disk C and saw that the System Volume Information folder was empty. Clicked properties and it said 0 bytes, 0 files, 0 folders.

I heard that the System Volume Information contains restore points, which worries me since they are gone. I also have heard that it is recreated automatically, so I figured restarting the computer would do that, but it didn't. If anyone can please give me more information on this problem, I would gladly appreciate it.
