About every 6-9 months I end up having to completely rebuild my system (low level format, fdisk, reinstallation, and so on) because of numerous win.com, himem.sys, registry errors, etc.  I do recover the files, but when this starts, it usually happens every day for a couple of weeks, and then the entire registry gets corrupted to the point where it can't be recovered.   

I'm not sure what causes this, but I do have Norton AV and Goback installed, and I wonder if all the background processing causes some of these major file errors.  (Virus scans using McAfee and Norton found no viruses) 

My question is, anyone else have these problems?  And, what should you install first--Goback or Norton?  Or is McAfee more compatible with Norton?

Anyway, any insight would be appreciated.  I have all the software and drivers reinstalled except for the Norton AV and Goback, and would like some ideas before proceeding.
